The extreme inefficiency of the recycling industry
In 2020, Canadians generated 36 million tonnes of waste of which, less than 28% was recycled.
"Currently, most garbage collected for disposal ends up in landfills and a small amount is incinerated. This can lead to air pollutant emissions, land disturbance and water pollution. The extraction and processing of new resources needed to replace those discarded as waste leads to more pollution. (Environment and Climate Change Canada, 2024)
The HARO solution
HARO recovers products that were intended for disposal, thus reducing waste at the source. By selling these recycled products, we can directly fund our research and development activities with the primary aim of improving current recycling processes.
Innovation is at the heart of Haro
Our teams of engineers and chemists work in collaboration with specialized external engineering firms to revolutionize the recycling industry we know today. Much research is being done to create and explore the latest breakthrough on new methods that could be the next standards. In addition to research, we work continuously to optimize, improve and implement the latest technologies currently used. All known mechanical and chemical recycling processes are re-evaluated and pushed to their extreme limits in order to achieve the best physical/chemical efficiency possible of those-here.
